What to see

Every year, hundreds of visitors come to Plentzia attracted by its beautiful estuary, beach and port, as well as its picturesque old town.

Heritage

This village, founded in 1299, still preserves some of its cultural heritage. Its picturesque medieval old quarter is a superb combination of popular maritime architecture and more refined and palatial buildings.

However, many believe that the town’s landmark monument is the footbridge of Plentzia, an arch bridge that connects the Bilbao metro station to the town centre, inviting visitors to discover its seafaring heritage.

Old Town

Unique in the Uribe region, the historic center of Plentzia invites you to walk through its streets to discover the monumental heritage, a vestige of the town’s past.

St. James’ Arch

The Arch of Santiago is part of the historical-architectural ensemble of the historic quarter of Plentzia, which has an impact on its historical value.

Church of Santa Maria Magdalena

This austere Gothic church was built between the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century. It has a rectangular floor plan and 3 naves separated by pillars but no vaulting.

Torrebarri Tower-House

Demolished and transformed into a residential home, it still preserves some stylistic and decorative features.

Ancient City hall

Known as Torreón, as the typology of the building reminds the tower house one.

Goñi Portal Farmhouse

A peculiar rural building in the heart of the urban centre, behind the parish church of Saint Mary Magdalene.

Chapel of the Shrine of the Holy Christ

Aesthetically, this building lacks decorative features of any great interest, except for a low belfry and the blocked-up opening in the façade.
